Your donation will enable the publication and educational outreach of the book Drayton Hall: Perspectives on a Place and Its People, the first of its kind in the nation. Rather than being written solely by historians or curators, it features over 35 interviews with site descendants (both White and Black), board members, donors, staff, and professionals in history, tourism, museum studies, and historic preservation. By editing and producing this book, Dr. George W. McDaniel is seeking to show how museums and historic preservation organizations can enhance biracial understanding and be a positive force in today’s world.
- For a donation of $1000, the donor will receive a leather-bound, signed, and numbered first edition.
- For a donation of $2500, the donor will receive the above, plus lunch with the author and an interviewee.
- For a donation of $5000, the donor will receive the leather-bound edition, plus a boat trip on the Ashley River with the author and a party of up to three to see Drayton Hall by water. This is a view that people would have enjoyed for centuries, but is rarely seen today. We’ll have a Lowcountry lunch and Prosecco on the water and see Magnolia Gardens, Middleton Place, and other scenic views along the river.
- Your preferred donation amount will be gratefully accepted.
